Dear God,

I realize I’m a sinner. I repent of my sins. I want to come back to you and start over. Forgive me for my transgressions. I fall way short of perfection. I want you to be my Lord and Savior. Please come into my life and help me to be a good person. Help me to be more like you. Help me to salvage whats left, and to make the most of today. Thanks for dying on the Cross to take away my sins. Help me to be more forgiving and helpful to others. Fill my heart with your Holy Spirit. I kindly ask this in Jesus name. Amen!
Prayer. It’s when we call out to God. Some people meditate, others pray to statues, or false gods. These prayers do not work. They are not heard. Only the One True God can hear our prayers. The God of the Jews, Jehovah we now call by the name Jesus. This is why Christians end our prayers in Jesus name. Only Jesus can receive our prayers.

Ask & Receive God’s Forgiveness.

Jesus gave us the Model for prayer.
How and what to Pray to God?
A prayer in my own words.
You can pray to God in your own words.
Psalm 51 a prayer of repentance.
The book of Psalms is great prayer material.
The prayer in the Garden of Gethsemane. Jesus already knew His crucifixion was about to take place. He asked His disciples to pray lest they enter into temptation. The temptation He speaks of is that they wouldn’t lose their faith in Him.

Psalm 145:18-19 (King James)

 18The LORD is nigh unto all them that call upon him, to all that call upon him in truth.

 19He will fulfil the desire of them that fear him: he also will hear their cry, and will save them.

Luke 22:39-46 (King James)

 39And he came out, and went, as he was wont, to the mount of Olives; and his disciples also followed him.                                                                    accustomed

 40And when he was at the place, he said unto them, Pray that ye enter not into temptation.

 41And he was withdrawn from them about a stone's cast, and kneeled down, and prayed,

 42Saying, Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me: nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done.

 43And there appeared an angel unto him from heaven, strengthening him.

 44And being in an agony he prayed more earnestly: and his sweat was as it were great drops of blood falling down to the ground.

 45And when he rose up from prayer, and was come to his disciples, he found them sleeping for sorrow,

 46And said unto them, Why sleep ye? rise and pray, lest ye enter into temptation.

Matthew 6:5-15 King James Version (KJV)

 5And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.

 6But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.

 7But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.

 8Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him.

 9After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.

 10Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.

 11Give us this day our daily bread.

 12And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.

 13And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

 14For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you:

 15But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.

Psalm 51:1-13 (King James)

 1Have mercy upon me, O God, according to thy lovingkindness: according unto the multitude of thy tender mercies blot out my transgressions.

 2Wash me throughly from mine iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin.

 3For I acknowledge my transgressions: and my sin is ever before me.

 4Against thee, thee only, have I sinned, and done this evil in thy sight: that thou mightest be justified when thou speakest, and be clear when thou judgest.

 5Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me.

 6Behold, thou desirest truth in the inward parts: and in the hidden part thou shalt make me to know wisdom.

 7Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean: wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.

 8Make me to hear joy and gladness; that the bones which thou hast broken may rejoice.

 9Hide thy face from my sins, and blot out all mine iniquities.

 10Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.

 11Cast me not away from thy presence; and take not thy holy spirit from me.

 12Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit.

 13Then will I teach transgressors thy ways; and sinners shall be converted unto thee.

Psalm 6:9 (King James)

 9The LORD hath heard my supplication; the LORD will receive my prayer.

Acts 2:21 (King James Version)

 21And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved.

James 5:13-18 (King James)

 13Is any among you afflicted? let him pray. Is any merry? let him sing psalms.

 14Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord:

 15And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him.

 16Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 (King James)

 16Rejoice evermore.

 17Pray without ceasing.

 18In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.

The Serenity Prayer

God grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change;
courage to change the things I can;
and wisdom to know the difference.

Living one day at a time;
Enjoying one moment at a time;
Accepting hardships as the pathway to peace;
Taking, as He did, this sinful world
as it is, not as I would have it;
Trusting that He will make all things right
if I surrender to His Will;
That I may be reasonably happy in this life
and supremely happy with Him
Forever in the next.
Amen.

to God

Acts 4:12 (King James Version)

 12Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.

There is only one God that can hear our prayers. Yet
God ignores prayers from the lawless, and the wicked. He only listens to repented and humble people.

Proverbs 28:9 (King James Version)

 9He that turneth away his ear from hearing the law, even his prayer shall be abomination.

Psalm 66:18 (King James Version)

 18If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me:

Isaiah 1:15 King James Version (KJV)

 15And when ye spread forth your hands, I will hide mine eyes from you: yea, when ye make many prayers, I will not hear: your hands are full of blood.

Isaiah 59:2 King James Version

 2But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear.

2 Chronicles 7:14 King James Version (KJV)

 14If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

from Repentance:

1 Timothy 2:3-6 (King James Version)

 3For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour;

 4Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.

 5For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;

 6Who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time.

1 Peter 3:12 King James Version (KJV)

 12For the eyes of the Lord are over the righteous, and his ears are open unto their prayers: but the face of the Lord is against them that do evil.
